Yes I know I'm late to the party (it's been a hectic couple of days) BUT I wanted to take the time to say Merry Christmas and Heri za Kwanzaa! If you're like me and many people I know, you just got over a cold, the flu or some other sickness that kept you in bed this past week. Now that you’ve recovered (or once you recover if you’re still on bed rest) take the time to celebrate this holiday season with your loved ones. Christmas, of course, is about giving to others, showing them how much you appreciate all they’ve done this past year. But there’s more to give than just gifts, there’s also time, appreciation, patience, and love. And as important as it is to give that to other people, find ways to give it to yourself, Blackgirl. Dream wild dreams That cannot be tamed by the whip of other's words trying to pound you into silence Dream dreams that soar and are ever-rising above the people who must look up to acknowledge that you dream Dreams whose wings spread further than the eye can see Dreams whose wings are unpredictable to the Ones who drown in oceans of doubt And believe you should drown too Never let yourself sink, Blackgirl Continue to soar Continue to fly Continue to dream Wildly. A dream of mine was fulfilled this week. It was a dream that meant so so much to me and I still can’t believe it to be true. I wrote this poem to tell you, don’t be afraid to dream, Blackgirl.
