We will march on

It's taken me a while to bring myself to talk about the election here. I've been through a wide range of emotions from anger to sadness to depression to rage. However, I will say I did not feel an ounce of surprise. Disappointed? Absolutely.  Surprised? Not at all. We live in a country that freely allows commemorations of slavery to fly over the interstate. We live in a country that allows people who explicitly go against the safety and protection of its people to run them. We live in a country that would rather gaslight themselves into thinking our dark history isn't as dark as it actually is, and that if you point it out, you're the problem. We live in a country that excuses people for their ignorant behavior, essentially telling them it's okay to do it so long as they aren't around the 'wrong people' .
